River Eden landslip forces the closure of section of Hadrian's Wall Path



URGENT NEWS - PATH CLOSURE ON RIVER EDEN

The diversion between Beaumont and Kirkandrews (west of Carlisle) caused by a landslip into the river Eden is still in place. Until further notice walkers must follow the road between the two villages (click here for map extract showing diversion and see below for the notice). Notices and maps have been pinned to Trail furniture ahead of the closure.

Until further notice:

A landslip has forced the closure of a section of path between Beaumont and Kirkandrews

Walkers must follow the road between the two villages

Notices and maps have been posted onto Trail furniture ahead of the diversion.  Please ask walkers to report if the notices have been tampered with or removed.

Instructions for eastbound walkers

At Beaumont village green turn right (the church is on your right); then immediately take the first left heading towards Kirkandrews.

Continue along roadside turning left at road junction.  In approx 50 metres take farm track on left to re-join Trail in 100 metres at kissing gate.  Turn right to head towards Carlisle.

Instructions for westbound walkers

⅓ mile after Sourmilk bridge and at bottom of bank meet farm track at kissing gate (next to pond). Turn left along farm track.  At end turn right and bear right at road junction following roadside heading towards Beaumont.

At road junction turn right into Beaumont to re-join the Trail at the village green.
