Accuracy of information on the site

Whilst we endeavour to ensure that all information on the Site is accurate, we cannot vouch that all information will be accurate and up-to-date at all times. The Site contains a large amount of data from a variety of sources, and errors are likely to occur – for example, detail of accommodation or service providers. We therefore cannot accept any liability for error or omission with regards to content of the Site.

Please inform us should you find any inaccurate information on the Site, and we will correct it as soon as we can.

Part of this Site contains materials submitted to Natural England by members of the public and third parties. It is the responsibility of these third parties to ensure that the materials submitted for inclusion on this Site comply with the law. We cannot guarantee the accuracy or reliability of this material and hereby disclaim any responsibility for error, omission or inaccuracy in the material or for any misinterpretation, loss, disappointment, negligence or damage caused by reliance on any material contained within the Site.

We also cannot accept responsibility for any failure, or alleged failure in the delivery of the services referred to on the Site or in the event of bankruptcy, liquidation or cessation of trade of any company, individual or firm referred to on the Site

We accept no responsibility for the content of any website to which a hypertext link from this Site exists. Such links are provided for your convenience.

Public Sector Mapping Agreement

You are granted a non-exclusive, royalty free revocable licence solely to view the licensed data for non-commercial purposes for the period during which Natural England makes it available;
You are not permitted to copy, sub-license, distribute, sell or otherwise make available the licensed data to third parties in any form.
Third party rights to enforce the terms of this licence shall be reserved to OS.

We do not supply any identifying information to Ordnance Survey.

Photographs on the Site

If you see a photograph that belongs to you or your organisation that is not credited then please contact us to let us know.

We reserve the right to use any photographs added to the site for the purposes of promotion.

We reserve the right to remove any images that we deem inappropriate.

Anyone adding images must have the right to do so – we are not responsible for copyright of images added by anyone other than ourselves. If any copyright disputes arise we will remove the disputed images.

Protecting Your Privacy

Natural England is committed to protecting your privacy as a user of our website and the confidentiality of any personal information that you may provide us with during your visit to the Site.

Any information that you provide to the site such as photos, accommodation information, enquiries, problem reports or listings for the website, is captured into our database. The information provided is used to fulfil queries and requests from users of the site.  The information also helps us to improve our website, by making it more personal for each individual user.

Accommodation lists are generated by the site and exported in pdf format. These contain a summary of the information about your business, but exclude the admin email address.

We have discretion to edit, alter or delete any data you add.

If you submit an enquiry or feedback by email or via the website we may pass your contact details on to the relevant Trail Manager. Please be aware that Trail Managers have their own data protection policies and you are advised to contact them for details if you have any questions about how your data will be used.

Unless we are required to share your personal data by law, we will not otherwise share, sell or distribute any of your private information (i.e. data that is not published to the website) without your consent.

You have the right to see what personal data we hold about you. To obtain a copy of the personal information we hold about you, please email nationaltrails@naturalengland.org.uk

If you believe that any information we are holding on you is incorrect or incomplete, please write to or email us as soon as possible at the address below. We will promptly correct any information found to be incorrect.

Cookies and Analytics

We use cookies to store information about how you use the National Trail website, such as the pages you visit.

We use Google Analytics to measure how you use the website so we can improve it based on user needs. We do not allow Google to use or share the data about how you use this site.

 

We use cookies that fall into two categories.  Cookies that are essential for the website to function correctly and cookies for communication and marketing purposes, these include cookies from Google Analytics.

We use cookies that remember your settings. These cookies do things like remember your preferences and login details and the choices you make, to personalise your experience of using the site.

These essential cookies do things like remember your progress when planning a trip. Functional cookies are essential for the site to operate successfully and will by default be turned on.

We also use cookies that may be set by third party websites and do things like measure how you view YouTube videos.

Google Analytics sets cookies that store anonymized information about:

  • how you got to the Site
  • the pages you visit on the Site, and how long you spend on each page
  • what you click on while you’re visiting the site

Where analytic cookies have been enabled by the user we record analytics using the third party service, Google. We do this to understand how the National Trails website is being used.

Depending on your device or browser privacy settings, the analytics may collect your advertising identifier.

The analytics may also record technical data about your device or browser including the type of browser and IP address.

However, Google truncates the IP data before it enters the analytics reports so you cannot be identified by your IP address via Google analytics. The analytics information is kept on Google servers within a password protected area.

Accommodation Providers

All accommodation added to the site must accept bookings from walkers. Listing is free. Natural England reserves the right to contact you at any time about your listing. We may review accommodation listings and will remove any entries that are out of date. What is the legal basis for processing your data?
