Otford and Shoreham

Otford is village situated on the River Darent. First stop when you arrive in Otford should be the Heritage Centre and Parish Office in the High Street which is an Aladdin's cave of information and artefacts charting the area's history. High Street has been deemed a conservation area. Here you will find many beautiful historic houses and cottages dating back to the 15th century and beyond.

Browse the impressive selection of specialist outlets and curiosity shops before visiting the Otford Solar System a scale model of the Solar System which claims to be "the largest scale model in the world". You can walk between the sun and planets and learn more about the solar system. A leisurely walk (at about twenty times the speed of light) visiting every planet in the Solar System in order of its proximity to the Sun will take approximately one and three quarter hours.

Don't miss the duck pond roundabout in the centre of the village - this has listed building status.

A short walk will take you to Shoreham where you can visit the Shoreham Aircraft Museum which houses a substantial collection of aviation relics. It also has a tea room and gardens and there are several pubs in the village.
