2.75 km of new flagging along the Way

19th December 2013

Walkers and Wildlife along the Pennine Way will see the benefit of several new sections of stone flagging carried out during 2013. The falgs are flown into site by helicopter and provide a sustainable walking surface for users whilst protecting the surrounding often fragile deep peat habitat from trampling damage. The new sections are 800m north of the M62 footbridge, 350m on Heptonstall Moor, 800m at Walshaw  and 800m on the Cheviot.
