Pen y Ghent flag path construction underway

12th March 2014

Work is underway to repair the erosion and provide a sustainable walking surface on the summit ridge of Pen y Ghent in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. The work is being carried out by the Yorkshire Dales National Park Ranger Service and is funded by Natural England. Previous attemps to repair the damage, initially with boardwalk and more recently with a gravel path have both failed the test of time, mainly due to the exposed location of the site and damage from heavy rainfall. At 300kg a flag this path wont get washed away in the next downpour. The work is due for completion by the end of March.
