Tim & Maggie Sanger walked part of the SDW from 20th - 26th April 2009, here's what they wrote.
My husband and I spent five days between 20th and 26th April walking from Winchester to Botolphs. The trip was memorable with beautiful warm spring sunshine and tremendous views. The footpath was very well marked and easy to follow. Only one signpost was misleading at Cocking Hill car park where it pointed to the QECP 6 miles when in fact it is around 12 miles.

We used local taxi firms to support our day walks and can thoroughly recommend A2B 01730 233299 and Arundel taxi and courier services 01903 883366. Both were friendly, knew the area well and charged the prices quoted which were reasonable. We would suggest that B&Gs 01730716327 are avoided as they quoted £20 for a journey and then charged £30. The car used had no meter and no taxi identification.
The teashop in Steyning was memorable with delicious calorie laden cakes, just what’s needed after a good long walk washed down with a generous pot of tea!
We look forward to completing the walk in late July from Botolphs to Eastbourne.
