As the largest native Box woodland in the country, this is a special ancient woodland spread across the steep Chilterns escarpment. The woodland is protected as a Site of Special Scientific Interest.
The woodland is privately owned but a public footpath along the upper slopes of the valley offers an intriguing glimpse into this unusual habitat.
