Bellingham Camping and Caravanning Club site is located directly on the Pennine Way, south of busy Bellingham village. It is a 15-20 munute stroll to the village and just 10 minutes to the nearest hostelry serving good beer and food. We are located at GR836826, 250m north of the point at which the Pennine Way meets the B6320 Hexham to Bellingham road.
We offer secluded camping spots for backpackers, with special camping rates (for both members and non-members of the Club). Rates start at £5.90 (low season) and max charge is £8.75 per person (high season), with members of the C&C Club paying about 20% less.
We are within the Northumberland National Park, part of the new Northumberland Dark Sky Park area (so bring your binoculars at least!) .
There is a well-stocked shop on site (including fresh milk, locally sourced bread, eggs, bacon, sausages). A fully equipped modern kitchen enables preparation of hot meals and drinks. We have full washroom/shower facilities, with free hot water 24/7, a laundry on site (additional charge) and free WiFi access. Wansbeck House, our fairly newly refurbished indoor space offers warm relaxation space, with log fire, TV, the aforementioned kitchen, drying room and table tennis room. Backpackers and camping pod users are given automatic use of these areas, whilst other campers need to request use.
If you fancy a more luxurious night, the site has 4 insulated and heated (optional) camping pods for hire (£45 per night) which can accommodate up to 3 adults, or 2 adults and 2 younger children. Own mattresses and bedding required (camp beds can be hired). Pods are best booked directly via the site. In low/mid season, advance booking is not so vital but it is worth phoning to check availability.
Note that we operate a policy never to turn backpackers away from the site. However, we would prefer to know of your arrival to ensure we find a reasonable spot for your tent in busy periods or if you are likely to arrive late (quite likely if coming north on the Pennine Way from Greenhead or Haltwhistle!)
