Green Farm Barn, Shadoxhurst
"Absolutely beautiful, well equiped and an absolute treat to stay" (Theresa, party of 12, May 2013)
"The barn was stunning, thoughtfully restored, beautifully decorated, very comfortable with all the modcons... a good configuration for a multi-family goup" (Paula, party of 11, May 2013)
Green Farm Barn is a sensitively restored listed barn dating back to the mid 19th Century, completed in mid-April 2013. The Barn was originally the coach house and stabling for Green Farm when this was the Kings Head Coaching Inn. Together with the "Cow Shed", it forms a luxury holiday let with accommodation for up to 12 guests, speak to us if you want 14. Green Farm Barn provides a wonderful place for family get-togethers, two or three families holidaying together or groups of friends wanting to get away! We are very proud to have just received 4 Rosettes with a Gold Award from VisitEngland.
There are five bedrooms; three ground floor en-suite, one with full wheelchair access that is suitable for people with disabilities, all with 6ft wide super-king double beds. The two upstairs bedrooms, on the mezzanine overlooking the sitting room, have three 3ft single beds and share an en-suite bathroom. It is possible to alter the layout of the beds if desired. The rest of the property comprises a large vaulted open plan sitting room with log-burning stove, a modern, well equiped kitchen (including a range, american fridge/freezer and two dishwashers), a dining table for 14, a family bathroom and a large garden room with big french windows opening onto the patio and the secluded courtyard. Green Farm also has a sauna that is available to guests.
Green Farm is is set deep in the heart of the Kent Weald but is only 10 minutes from Ashford International station with its high speed javelin trains to London (St Pancras in 37 minutes) and Eurostar trains to Paris and Brussels. It is also just 10 minutes from both J9 and J10 of the M20. A Green Lane leads into 12,500 acres of woodland, most of it ancient, much of it within designated Local Wildlife Sites and some of it designated as SSSI. Rolling farmland spreads down to Romney Marsh and the sea. This is a wonderful area to walk, run or ride bicycles. Wildlife abounds including deer in the woods, nightingales in spring, bats and owls in the evenings.
This is a great, central base to explore this part of Kent with plenty for everyone within a short drive: Castles, Gardens, Cathedral, Market Towns, Beaches abound! Tenterden is just 10 minutes away and Rye is only 20; the Designer Outlet Centre in Ashford provides great shopping 5 minutes away and the local pub, which is a five minute walk, has twice won Shepherd Neame "Food Pub of the Year".
Guests have full access to Green Farm and its 33 acres of meadows, wooded pasture and ancient woodland, almost all within a Local Wildlife Site because of its rich diversity of habitats, flaura and fauna. You are also welcome to visit and even help with the farm animals, depending on the season and the farming activity.
Guests are welcome to purchase our free-range chicken and duck eggs, vegetables and meat as available. We are proud to be accredited with "Produced in Kent" who recognise our commitment to the quality of locally sourced produce and services and to the attractiveness of Kent as a holiday destination.
