Meet Brother Percival! A perfect photo opportunity for any wood-be Pilgrims! The Pilgrim's Rest bench was unveiled in 2007 alongside the Pilgrim's Way near Harrietsham. Sadly Brother Percival has lost his nose.
A nearby map and information board shows how Harrietsham may have looked to the time of the pilgrim, Brother Percival, and the places he may have visited. It also explains that "Hearsay has it that young Pilgrims would marry and honeymoon in the old tower of the church, not being released until the bill was paid in full." It also says that Harrietsham was originally called 'Herriagerdeshamme' because of tranquil water meadows in the bottom of the valley.
