- Courses:
- 100km non-stop
- 50km Coastal Loop
- 50km Castle Loop
100km course:
The full 100k course at Race to the King consists of two 50km loops: a flat and fast Coastal loop around Chichester harbour, followed by the undulating Castle loop along the South Downs ridge.
Both loops start and finish at West Dean Gardens, giving you access to your drop bag and supporters at the halfway point.
Steeped in history and designed to cater both to seasoned runners seeking a fast 100k race and first-timers just hoping to finish in one piece, Race to the King’s spectacular course is truly fit for royalty.
50km coastal route:
The 50k Coastal loop at Race to the King is truly the perfect first ultramarathon. Flat and runnable without skimping on scenery, it offers spectacular views around Chichester Harbour, passing through the ancient fishing village of Bosham before gently climbing back onto the South Downs.
50km castle loop:
If you’re looking for more of a challenge, the 50k Castle Loop at Race to the King is the ideal ‘next step’ on your ultra journey. Following an undulating course along the South Downs Way, the route passes by Arundel Castle before returning to West Dean via the Monarch’s Way, with spectacular views of the Weald to the North and the coastline to the South.
