Maybe even rest a while on one of the three benches placed there to let you sit and enjoy the view.

The Byre is a retro styled cottage, converted from the old cow shed. Sitting in the glorious Welsh countryside with easy access to Snowdonia, Glyndwrs way, Offers Dyke and Lake Vyrnwy. Rural but not isolated pub and shop are 1/2 mile away. The stars at night are amazing. The Brye has a mezzanine bedroom, large shower room, fully equipped kitchen open to the living room diner. Small but perfectly formed. Dog friendly (2 medium dogs max – unless by agreement) and suitable for 2 adults and baby. With a 70s vibe, the Byre is cosy and yet light. Great views through the main window to feast your eyes upon whilst eating. Sky TV for those nights in, great WiFi in case you need to work. Guests have full sole access to the whole cottage and the front patio garden (this area occasionally used for access, postman etc). Free parking on site. Shared access to the 1 acre back garden, however please keep dogs under control as we have free roaming chickens and cats and our dogs are often loose outside. Please don’t let your dog dig, pick up dog poop, and keep dogs off the furniture. The Byre is a no smoking property.

Carolyn can advise routes with boots not car. To plan ahead you should equip yourself with OS 'Explorer' no 200 which includes Drovers Retreat and also covers the Elan Valley reservoir area. Connections from London, Manchester, Edinburgh & Glasgow. The station is approximately 25 minute cycle ride, or ask us and we'll try & collect you. We have dark skies and on a clear night you'll have a great view of the stars from your raised deck. Access: the lodge is raised and on a single level. A short concrete path leads from the parking area to 4 steps that take you to a raised deck and the front door. The internal doors are narrow and may not be suitable for wheelchair users. Pets: Although we do not allow pets at present, we can introduce you to our neighbour who has pet friendly accommodation. Smoking is not permitted. We do not have facilities for BBQs at the present time. Please do not use disposable BBQs.

Cwmbiga is half a mile from the Glyndwr's Way: between Llanidloes and Dylife.   If you would like to walk beyond Cwmbiga in order to shorten the walk to Machynlleth the day after you stay with us, we will happly pick you up from / return you to Dylife.  We have an information sheet which explains all: please contact us for a copy.We have two 4* self-catering cottages, each of which sleep 7. We offer a small party discount of 20% for groups of 1-4 people. The price includes homemade cake and fresh eggs from our chickens! Each cottages sleeps 4 in two bedrooms, and there is also a sofabed in The Barn cottage to sleep an extra 1 or 2.Open all the year round, under floor central heating, wood burners, well equipped kitchens, lovely views and abundant wildlife. Plenty of parking.

Tyddyn Retreat - The Mid Wales Retreat & Holiday Centre, is an inspiring eco venue and self-catering holiday cottages, ideally located for exploring the whole of the magical Glyndwr's Way. A hideaway that's secluded and private and easy to reach.The beautiful cottages are stunningly converted stone barns, filled with light and natural materials. Stylish while comfortable, with high beamed ceilings, oak floors and locally crafted furnishings, the cottages have underfloor heating powered by Ground Source, and cosy wood burners to sit around in the evenings.Tyddyn Retreat offers you a sense of luxury with the highest eco standards and little extras - steam shower, personal sauna, massage, tipi, stone circle, Summerhouse Cabin, and magical land with private seating areas. Guests can also use the wonderful workshop space as their private cinema for sharing stories of their Glyndwr's days.We have disabled access, a laundry, drying room, lockable cycle rack, horse stabling and are dog friendly. We provide transport to take you to whichever stage of Glyndwr's Way that you would like to walk each day, and to collect you at the end of the day. A short trip of around 20 mins is all you need to reach most sections of the trail from Tyddyn Retreat. We also provide a luggage service if you wish to move on to other accommdoation.You will find a feast of maps and books here - including plenty to give you interesting information on Glyndwr's Way itself, plus many tales of the history and culture that come from Owain Glyndwr, his life and his time.
