A few years ago, my wife and I had contact with long-distance hiking trails for the first time during a short break in southern England. A round trip starting in Dover took us to the White Cliffs. This day hike had fallen so much that two years ago we took the north downs way from Farnham to Dover. have wandered. Since the road has fascinated us so much, this year we decided to walk the full length Offas Dyke Path from Chepstow to Prestatyn.Already on the first stages we met hikers, who came from the USA and Canada. We exchanged a few words about the goal to be achieved and each one wished the other to succeed. Our first nights were in Tintern, Monmouth, Tre Adam with a German opera singer past the white Castle, Pandy and in the beautiful Llanthony Abby. The first climbs had it all. What also made walking easier was the very good signposting of the hiking trail. A bleeding was virtually impossible.Worth mentioning the day before is that the "Priory Hotel" offers excellent cuisine. The menu featured typical down to earth dishes as we expected. At very warm 20 degrees it went in the morning on the way.The route over the black mountains was for us one of the most beautiful but also exhausting on the Offas dyke path. Then we continued in the direction of Hay on wye. Although it was only a few miles and a pleasant route but the descents can be very exhausting. After a leisurely day in Hay on Wye we started in the morning towards Kington and Knighton (a very nice place with good food). The weather also played along again. It was very warm again, but we were already used to it. Shortly before the middle of the Offas Dyke Path, the path invited again to a magnificent view of Newcastel. Arriving in the village of Clun, we took a break over coffee and cake and warmed up a bit. After a cozy evening and a visit to the castle in Montgomery we started this morning in the direction of Welshpool. The weather also played along again. It was very cold again, but we were already used to it. After  a sheep look in Welshpool and several kilometers along the river Severn we reached the Buttington Bridge.Past the beautiful meadows with many sheep, we stayed in LlanymynechWe got to know Chirk the beautiful castle, the Aqueduct and the famous place Llangollen know. After a few kilometers we reached Llandegla, our destination. The track was quite impressive, hiking the beautiful rocks of the Ruabon MoutainAs the first intermediate destination we had chosen the highest vantage point. From the platform "Moel Famau" we had a beautiful view of the landscape. For a longer break, it was a bit cold and above all too windy. Then the time came. After 18 stages we had reached the Nova Sportcenter and were able to register in the Offas Dyke book and go swimming with our feet.
