Signage Accessibility - Silecroft to Green Road

Sometimes when you’re exploring the great outdoors, you come across large signs with lots of information on which can sometimes be hard to see or digest.

Whilst most of our information panels are installed at an optimum height and angle for accessibility, this does not cover all bases, such as making information available to path users with neurodivergences or visual impairments.

On some of these signs, you will find QR codes with Braille stickers also marking their location. You can scan the codes to access the text from each individual sign, and use your mobile phone’s screen reading technology to listen to the text.

Some of these signs are full of interesting information about the places you’re exploring and what you might find, see or hear. Some of them contain essential information about safety for people and wildlife, and where you can and can’t go.

These signs are currently being trialled on the Silecroft and Millom area in south west Cumbria, but we will hopefully expand this in due course.
