Albury Vineyard is situated at the Silent Pool on the southern slopes of the North Downs in the beautiful Surrey Hills, just outside Guildford on the A25 towards Dorking. The vineyard is situated on the North Downs Way in an area of outstanding natural beauty.
According to folklore legend, a woodcutter's daughter was drowned in the Silent Pool whilst escaping the clutches of King John who forced her into the water. The pool is now said to be haunted by the young maiden. The picturesque village of Shere is 1 mile from the vineyard. Quintessentially English, the village offers chocolate-box buildings, charming tearooms, a museum, a 12th century church, a stream with ducks, and two good pubs. Shere is a favourite amongst filmakers and scenes from The Holiday, Four Weddings and a Funeral and Bridget Jones have been filmed here.
The vines are the traditional Champagne varietals of Chardonnay, Pinot Noir and Pinot Meunier, as well as some Seyval and Pinot Gris. We are committed to producing organic fruit without the use of chemicals such as herbicides and fungicides, and produce English wine of the highest quality; a still rosé and quality sparkling wines.
The vineyard is open to visitors on Saturdays and other days seasonally (check website for opening hours). Enjoy a walk amongst the vines, take in breathtaking views of the Surrey Hills from our viewing platform at the top of the vineyard, and relax with a glass of award-winning English wine accompanied by a selection of English cheese.
