Offering an unrivalled view across to Pendle Hill in the heart of the Trough of Bowland AONB, Downham Camping Barn is now being run by the Downham Estate rather than the YHA. It offers great value accommodation for many types of events and celebrations, as well as being very popular with walkers, cyclists and DofE groups. The recently refurbished barn sleeps 12 upstairs. Guests will need to bring their own camp beds or roll mats. Below is a kitchen and sitting area with an adjoining gas heated shower and WC. Photovoltaic cells provide power for limited LED lighting (but not for phone charging) and there is a wood-burning stove with fuel available to purchase at time of booking. A gas cooker operated by a £1 coin meter is. Outside, there is space for additional tents – the number will depend on the tent size – as well as a gas barbeque and fire pit. There is parking for approximately four cars in a layby on the immediately adjacent lane. The barn is situated just ¾ mile from the village itself so benefits from being both accessible to the facilities – popular pub, tearoom and ice cream shop.
