This wonderful stretch of the King Charles III England Coast Path (KCIIIECP) starts at the Deal Pier, an unmissable landmark which offers stunning views out to sea. It is the third pier to be built in the town’s history and the only intact leisure pier in Kent.

The town of Deal is regarded as a unique and special place with an unspoilt seafront and collection of colourful buildings. See the fishing boats hauled up onto the shingle beach typical in this part of the Kent coast. Further along the coast, you will pass the Royal Cinque Ports Golf Club, an 18 hole Championship Links golf course regarded by many as one of the finest in the world.

As you continue on this wonderful walk, pass the Sandwich Bay Estate, a private estate with several hundred different species of plant having been recorded. Follow signs for the White Cliffs Country Trail towards Sandwich crossing a footbridge over the New Cut, a River Stour tributary. Shortly, the path will meet with the KCIIIECP, here you can extend your walk around the Sandwich Peninsula which is a peaceful walk and a haven for bird watchers.

Walk along the quayside, taking in all its interesting features and historic boast. The Salutation Gardens is the first building, which is part of a row of ancient merchant buildings. Pass the Sandwich Medieval Centre, where you will be able to discover the history of Sandwich through boat building, weaving and a forge all brought to life by actors. End your walk and then catch the train or bus service from the Guildhall back to Deal
