Come join us for a scenic walk from Coulsdon Common to Kenley Common in the beautiful South London Downs National Nature Reserve. This Ranger-led ramble will take you through scenic downland landscape visiting species-rich chalk grassland, coppiced woods, and ancient woodland habitat. We will also be passing some of the heritage features associated with Kenley Airfield, one of the most preserved WWII airfields associated with the Battle of Britain.
The walk will be approximately 2.5-3 hours. There will be a few gentle slopes and the walk will follow a mixture of grassy paths and rough tracks so you will need to be relatively fit and comfortable with uneven terrain.
It's a great opportunity to connect with nature, learn about the local landscape, and enjoy a relaxing day outdoors. Don't forget your comfy shoes, water, clothing suitable for the weather, and any snacks you might want to bring.
Meet the Ranger by the RAF Tribute on Kenley Common, just off Hayes Lane. There is plenty of parking on Hayes Lane/Victor Beamish Avenue.
Well-behaved dogs on leads welcome. There will be livestock in some of the fields.
