COTSWOLD HOLIDAY COTTAGES
Deep in a Cotswold valley, Owlpen Manor has been described as "the most beautiful place in England." The tudor manor house is steeped in 800 years of history, with arts and crafts furniture and its own community of ghosts. The nine self-catering Cotswold holiday cottages are all dog-friendly and perfect for families. They offer an unforgettable stay in this hidden corner of Gloucestershire, and sleep between two and eight people. Enjoy exclusive use of our stunning private Cotswold wedding venue and events venue, centred around the Cyder House restaurant, a stunning stone barn built in 1446. Visit Owlpen to explore the magical gardens, enjoy miles of woodland walks and relax in this truly English hidden gem.
We have nine beautiful self-catering holiday cottages at Owlpen Manor which sleep 36 people in total, in houses, barns and woodland homes for between 2 and 8 people. Enjoy comfort, design and peace and quiet in this unspoilt privately-owned Cotswold valley. Choose from a selection of stunning listed buildings built of Cotswold stone, elegantly restored and refurbished to a high standard. We have a range of properties that are perfect for family holidays and romantic weekend breaks, and most of them are dog friendly holiday cottages for your perfect holiday experience in the Cotswolds.
Cottages range from a one-bedroom studio flat in a medieval coach house to a five-bedroomed farmhouse. Many of the cottages are listed by the nation as buildings of historic or architectural interest. Therefore we have constraints on the degree to which these buildings can be adapted t0 ensure that they are accessible for wheel chairs. However, we would recommend two cottages on the estate that could be wheel chair accessible; Summerfield Cottage (all on one floor) and Woodwells, which has a twin room on the ground floor and adjoining shower.
THE CYDER HOUSE RESTAURANT
The beautiful old Cyder House forms an atmospheric restaurant for dining and celebrations at the centre of the estate. Karin Mander's menu emphasizes bistro-style cooking, with seasonal produce from the estate. This includes game – pheasant and venison are specialities – and traditionally-reared Owlpen beef. Karin finds a special place for her native Swedish fish cuisine, and also the produce of Owlpen's Elizabethan kitchen garden, set just below the restaurant.
The Cyder House Restaurant is a listed historic building dating to 1446, with massive oak 'cruck' trusses. A gigantic oak and elm cider press stands in the corner from 300 years ago, when cider feasts were held here. It is a stunning setting, furnished with Mander family portraits and Arts and Crafts furniture from the family collection, and with a floor laid from planks of ash, the trees felled in the surrounding woodland in 2010. Today it combines fifteenth-century charm with twenty-first-century convenience. Owlpen's cellars offer a good selection of reasonably-priced wines, especially from the French and Spanish regions.
