The Lion Inn is ideally located in the centre of Winchcombe, a wonderfully unspoilt Cotswold town that dates back to Saxon times with antiques centres, award-winning delicatessens, boutique cake shops, acclaimed restaurants and, on the outskirts, one of the most romantic country houses in England – Sudeley Castle!
All eight of our en-suite bedrooms at The Lion Inn, Winchcombe, combine contemporary design with classic luxuries to bring you the utmost comfort. Each room has its own individual character and intimate charm, making your stay just that little bit more memorable.

Winchcombe is located in one of the most stunning areas of the Cotswolds, where the Cotswold Hills tumble into the Severn Valley offering striking contrasts and views as far as the Black Mountains in Wales.
The Lion Inn started life as a coaching inn in the 15th Century. Over the years it has gone through many changes and played an important role in the village; providing food, drink and accommodation for people and horses.
Having fallen in love with the building, Annie Fox-Hamilton took over ownership of the Lion in late 2011 and spent 6 months on a major renovation of the building and grounds. We were determined not to lose any of the original quirky charm; we unearthed a lot more than we had anticipated such as Mickey Mouse – the vintage wall painting in Room 1 we couldn’t bear to lose.
Following the renovation of the building and grounds The Lion Inn at Winchcombe has been given a new lease of life transforming it into a place that we would like to visit – friendly; pampering; great local food; wine; ales; child and dog friendly; comfortable beds and attractive, relaxing rooms.
The Lion Inn is the sort of place you could walk into on your own or come with friends and family for coffee and cake, bar snacks, lunch, afternoon tea or dinner, stay the night or the week and know that you will receive a warm welcome and be well looked after.
