At Herding Hill Farm, you’ll find unusual luxury and amenities from a Hadrian’s Wall campsite. We are proud to be rated Platinum by the AA and 5-star by Visit England. Our location is also superb, in rural Northumberland, just 1 mile from Hadrian’s Wall. We enjoy beautiful sunsets and Northumberland dark skies and are perfect for stargazing. We even offer stargazing kits for hire. Open all year.
As well as spacious touring and tent pitches, all with electric, we have a wide range of glamping options including family friendly Wigwam cabins (some with their own WC and private hot tub), our 3-bedroom Luxury Lodge and our luxurious Castle Pods with hot tubs, exclusively for adults. Linen and croc boxes available for hire. We are dog friendly and there is a large scenic dog walk on site.
The amenities are fabulous and benefit from underfloor-heating, indoor campers kitchen with vending machines, laundry and even a sauna available for private hire. Our ladies bathrooms have private baths if you need a soak after a long day walking. BBQ hut for hire seating up to 20 people.
Our licensed shop stocks a variety of essentials and Northumberland produce, including real ales and BBQ and breakfast packs from the local butcher. We offer pizzas delivered to your pitch or pod Friday evenings in season.
Children’s playground, ball field and animal petting farm with alpacas, donkey, Shetland pony, piglets and other small animals. Children are welcome to join the animal feeding twice daily.
Quiet site policy after 10.30pm. Free WiFi.
Our 5-star Hadrian’s Wall campsite is perfectly situated near to the best sections of Hadrian’s wall. In fact, we are just a 15-minute walk from Cawfields quarry close to what is arguably the best section of Hadrian’s wall … that section between Chollerford and Birdoswald, and we are just 3 miles from Vindolanda. The AD122 Hadrian’s Wall bus stops outside the campsite entrance and runs to the major attractions along the wall between Hexham and Haltwhistle (AD122 runs between April and October).
The Milecastle Inn is a short walk from the site and serves real ales and home cooked food with a large scenic beer garden. There are also plenty of eating options in Haltwhistle and several of the Haltwhistle take-aways deliver to the site entrance for a small fee.
That makes us the perfect halfway stop off point for Hadrian’s Wall Path walkers.
