Birdoswald Roman Fort is the perfect place to see the longest continuous remaining stretch of the magnificent World Heritage Site of Hadrian's Wall.
The fort originally would have had granaries, a large basilica (aisled exercise hall), a hospital, barrack blocks, commandant’s house and a headquarters building.
Beyond the curtain walls lay a parade ground, civilian settlement and graveyard.
The converted 17th Century bunkhouse offers group accommodation overlooking the remains of the Roman Fort and has a maximum capacity of 37 people.
It has seven bedrooms, many with original fireplace features. Each bedroom is fitted with bunk beds, a wash hand basin, and full central heating. One room has an en suite shower room; all the others have their own individual shower room near to the bedroom.
Each shower room consists of a WC, wash hand basin and shower. A disabled bedroom with en suite facilities is available on the ground floor of the bunkhouse.
