Martinhoe Cleave Cottages are located in the Heddon Valley, the “jewel” of Exmoor National Park, renowned for its unspoilt natural beauty. Walk out of your door into this beautiful valley, surrounded by ancient woodland, heather-covered moorland and spectacular views of the coastline, sea and moor. Experience one of Britain’s wild places from your doorstep. Witness the majesty of the stars at night in a designated international dark sky reserve.
Chauffeur’s and Gardener’s Cottages each accommodate two people and Gamekeeper’s accommodates four. All cottages have central heating; Chauffeur’s and Gardener’s cottages also have wood burning stoves. There is a laundry room and all linen and towels are supplied. There is no mobile reception at the cottages but there is a payphone and free Wi-Fi is available. The area is very dog-friendly and you can bring your pets to stay with you. Short breaks available outside of our high season.
The area has many beautiful walks. The South West Coast Path, with its breath-taking scenery, is a short stroll from the cottages. Paths follow alongside the Heddon River and take you to the rugged cove of Heddons Mouth. There are some challenging routes and climbs for cyclists. Award-winning golden sandy beaches, favoured by surfers and boarders, are within easy reach at Woolacombe and Croyde.
The famous Hunters Inn and National Trust shop are located in the valley. The pretty coastal town of Lynton and Lynmouth, with its shops, galleries, cinema, restaurants and famous cliff railway, can be reached via the coastal path, or is a 10 minute drive. Combe Martin is also nearby, while the larger towns of Ilfracombe and Barnstaple are within a 40 minute drive. Other places of interest include Porlock to the east and Clovelly to the west.
