Just a mile from the Ridgeway National Trail in Oxfordshire is this cosy character cottage, built nearly 200 years ago in Watlington, reputed to be England's smallest town. We sleep up to 3 adults in 2 bedrooms (double and single beds) and both rooms have space for a travel cot. Wisteria Cottage has parking for 2 cars, an EV rapid charging point, an enclosed garden and Red Kites in the trees around us. Enjoy relaxing in front of the logburner after a day out walking and we provide a variety of maps and guides to help you plan your next days activity. If you enjoy historic houses and gardens there are several within 15 miles for you to explore. We also welcome 1 or 2 dogs depending on size.
We like to describe ourselves as 'a home away from home' or 'small but perfectly formed' as we have tried to create a really homely feel with good speed Wi-fi, 2 SMART tvs, gas central heating, a dishwasher, a washer/dryer, a microwave, a fridge and separate full size fridge /freezer, a downstairs bathroom with a 1500mm bath with shower over, complimentary toiletries and more. In addition to the 21st century products, we also offer 19th century wall and ceiling beams (mind your head!) and pine latched doors, one of which is narrower than usual.
The medieval town of Watlington is just a few minutes stroll from Wisteria Cottage, self catering holiday home in the Chilterns AONB and offers a range of independently owned shops, a supermarket, chemist, 3 pubs offering food, 2 Indian restaurants offering takeaways and a fish and chip shop. Watlington has featured in several episodes of 'Midsomer Murders' so you may recognise it!
