A tranquil and ecologically diverse nature reserve nestling between two valleys deep in the Chilterns. A mix of different woodland habitats have allowed a huge range of wildlife to flourish in the reserve, making Dancersend an interesting place to visit all year round.  A wonderful selection of flowers bloom in the Spring and Summer (including bluebells, primroses and the rare fly orchid in June) which help to provide a habitat for beautiful butterflies such as dingy and grizzled skippers and silver-washed fritillaries. Autumn brings a variety of fungi including the collared earthstar and the scarlet elfcup. The woodlands are also home to many different birds, such as great spotted woodpeckers, green woodpeckers and tawny owls.

Time your visit to coincide with one of the seasonal wildlife walks (see the website) or try the circular wildlife walk by following the badger waymarkers. Entry is free and parking is available.
