Hollingworth Lake is a 130 acre reservoir constructed in 1801 to supply water for the Rochdale Canal. The lake is a hive of activity and in Victorian times was known as "Weighvers' Seaport" as there is more than a resemblance to a seaside resort.

There is a visitor centre run by Rochdale Countryside Service with parking, cafe and toilets. The Lake is a hub for all sorts of adventure sports including climbing as well as water based activities.
