Spade Oak is a good place to pause when walking between Marlow and Cookham. Up the road from the wharf, there is a pub and a nature reserve created around a former gravel pit - good for bird watching in winter. The Thames is always lovely (well, nearly always) but sometimes its beauty seems magical. Early one misty morning, a willow tree appeared like a Japanese painting. The grassy meadow was transformed.
