The Woolwich Foot Tunnel was built in 1912 by London County Council to provide reliable all-weather access for local residents to the London shipyards and docks on the north side of the Thames. The rotunda is a Grade 2 Listed Building.

Today thousands of people use the Woolwich Foot Tunnel a day to cross beneath the River Thames. The Tunnel and the lifts are managed by the Royal Borough of Greenwich. You can find information about opening times, access, tunnel maintenance and closures on the Royal Borough of Greenwich website.
