I travelled the path from Sept 4 €“ 13, hiking from North to South, and on two occasions was surprised to find the camp sites were on the lawn of a house! The scenery was simply beautiful, and was matched only by the warmth of the welcome I received from the folk I met on and near the route. Apart from thunderstorms on the final day, the weather cooperated most of the time, and the constantly changing scenery and variety of countryside meant there was always something new to see. The only part where I felt it needed treating with respect was the stretch through the Black Mountains between Hay-on-Wye and Pandy, otherwise the walk is accessible to walkers of all abilities, especially if they don't mind a few steep bits, and the odd hill or two €¦ or three.
