Moreton-in-Marsh Train Station

Moreton-in-Marsh is a charming market town in the northern Cotswolds, close to the boundaries of Gloucestershire, Oxfordshire and Warwickshire. It was familiar with intercity travel long before the railway arrived in 1853 - the town lies on the Fosse Way, an old Roman road that linked Exeter to Lincoln. The modern A429, which runs north-south through the middle of town, roughly follows the old route. The small two-track station is on the Cotswold Line, offering services that terminate in Hereford and Worcester to the west and London St Pancras in the east. The town centre is just south of the station, and its heart is High Street, a lovely, wide stretch of shops and restaurants that is divided into two by the market square and the historic town hall. But it's the surrounding Cotswolds that are Moreton's chief attraction - note the dual-language signs in the station, which reflect the region's growing popularity with Japanese tourists

The station can be accessed from Station Road, a one-way street off Oxford Street (A44). There's a small staffed ticket hall, with toilets just outside on platform 1. Additional side entrances lead straight on to the platform. Access to platform 2 is via a footbridge with stairs and ramps - the ramps aren't steep but are quite long, so allow plenty of time if you need to use them. Be aware that London trains can use either platform.
